Central Park Before and After School Care provides a safe and nurturing environment for the student, parents and staff. We offer a variety of programs and activities for the students. We have guest speakers to come and offer information that will increase the knowledge of the children as well as their parents.

The students are involved in outside activities that affect many different people. They make color-by-number books for the children at Children's Hospital in the respiratory unit. They create cards for the troops that are stationed overseas fighting for us. They create 'Thank You' cards for the police and firemen in remembrance of 9/11 and for the hard work they do to protect us and our community.

We help the children with their homework and they are also provided with a healthy snack.

Our Before School hours start in the morning at 6:30 A.M. The children are taken to their classrooms at 7:45 A.M. Our After School hours are from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the afternoon. The list of fees for Before and After School Care are listed below. The children must be registered in the program to attend. West End Community School - Central Park - Before and After School Program

In an effort to answer questions you may have, we have prepared this "Fact Sheet." Should you have any further questions, please call Mrs. Gamble or Mrs. Sims at the West End Community School at Lee School.

* All accounts from last year must be paid in full before a child may be enrolled in the program.

* There is a non-refundable fee of $10 to be paid at the time of registration into the program. The fee for the first week must also be paid at the time of registration. This includes 'Child Care Central.'

* The pick-up time is by 6:00 P.M. A late fee of $5.00 per minute per child will be charged for children picked up after 6:10 P.M. The late fee must be paid at the time of pick-up on the day of the late charge. If you have an emergency and will be late, please call the Community School or Central Park Lunchroom at 231-1263 as soon as possible. You may also contact Mrs. Sims or Mrs. Gamble at 231-1461.

* All children must be signed in and out each day. Someone will direct you to your children.

* We give the children a nutritious snack from the lunchroom in the afternoon. Please do not send any other snacks. The children will not be allowed to go to the snack machine.

* If someone other than the persons listed on your registration forms will be signing-out for your children, please send a note with the name of the person that will be picking them up.

* We apply the Code of Conduct of the Birmingham Board of Education to our Before and After School Program. We will not use corporal punishment, but other disciplinary actions spelled out in the Code will be enforced in case of violations. Your child/children will be written up for discipline problems after being given three verbal warnings. After three verbal warnings, a written warning will be issued. After three written warnings, your child/children will be sent home from the Before and After School Program. If you do not have a copy of the Code of Conduct, we will be happy to get you a copy.

* Any child/children or parent that repeatedly displays inappropriate behavior, disruptive or hostile behavior, or causes physical injury to any child or staff member will be subject to suspension from the program. Frequent offenders will be subject to expulsion from the program.

Charges for the Before School Program:
$10 per week per child
$4 per day per child

Charges for the After School Program:
$30 per week for one child
$25 per week for each additional child
$10 per day for ONE child
$7 per day for EACH additional child

ALL children must be from the same family (Brothers and Sisters)
Three days within the same week is considered one full week.
